Many factory buyers encounter confusing trouble: brand-new PSA nitrogen generator runs several months, nitrogen purity gradually drifts down, and product surface starts showing oxidation and blackening defects. Technicians inspect nitrogen generator’s valves and carbon molecular sieve repeatedly, yet cannot find faults.
In numerous real-world service cases, unstable nitrogen quality roots in poor compressed-air pretreatment before entering nitrogen generator. Compressed air contains water vapor, oil aerosol, and solid dust particles. Moisture and oil will contaminate carbon molecular sieve inside PSA towers, causing adsorption performance degradation. Once molecular sieve gets contaminated, recovery is difficult, and replacement brings high repair cost.
Some buyers save budget by skipping refrigerated dryers or multi-stage precision filters. They think the nitrogen generator can handle air impurities. This is a costly misunderstanding. The PSA nitrogen generator only separates oxygen and nitrogen; it cannot remove oil and moisture from input compressed air.
For standard PSA nitrogen systems, the complete pretreatment chain includes: air compressor → after-cooler → refrigerated air dryer → multi-grade precision filters. Every component plays an irreplaceable role. If you already own existing air compressors, do remember to audit your dryer and filter status before adding a nitrogen generator. Regular filter-element replacement is low-cost preventive maintenance, which can protect your expensive molecular sieve and extend whole-unit service life significantly.
Before you blame your nitrogen generator for bad performance, audit your compressed-air pretreatment system first or replace Elily’s 5-in-1 integrated nitrogen generator.
Let's help you take the next step to 5-in-1 all-in-one nitrogen generation.
